Daksha | Crafting Voices - Celebrating living heritage of eastern India

Daksha:Crafting Voices is being organised at The Kunj, New Delhi, by Contact Base (www.banglanatak.com) in collaboration with the Development Commissioner (Handicraft), Government of India. The exhibition will be held from June 9–21, 2026, at The Kunj, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi.


DAKSHA highlights processes of experimentation and co-creation, positioning rural artisans as creative collaborators and knowledge holders while reimagining craft as a living, adaptive contemporary practice.


The exhibition features Sabai, Kashi grass, bamboo, Seraikela Chhau and Wooden masks, Kantha embroidery, Patachitra, and terracotta traditions from West Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand in eastern India. It highlights their material intelligence, ecological relevance, and evolving design vocabulary for contemporary spaces and lifestyles. At its core, the exhibition seeks to reposition craft as a contemporary, collaborative, and future-facing practice. Alongside the exhibition, DAKSHA is hosting talks, workshops, round tables, and demonstrations.
