Applications for the 2026 Jeonju International Awards for Promoting Intangible Cultural Heritage (JIAPICH) will be available for download beginning on 𝐅𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟏, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔.
Established by the City of Jeonju, JIAPICH has evolved into a distinguished international awards program recognizing excellence in the safeguarding, transmission, and promotion of intangible cultural heritage (ICH). Now entering its 𝟖𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, JIAPICH invites applications from ICH bearers, transmitters, practitioners, organizations, and mediators from around the world. Often described as an international benchmark for the field—comparable in spirit to a global award platform for ICH—JIAPICH seeks to honor those whose sustained efforts ensure the continuity of living heritage for future generations.
Over the course of its first seven editions, JIAPICH jury panelists have rigorously reviewed applications and selected 𝟐𝟏 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝟐𝟏 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 as JIAPICH Finalists. Through this platform, JIAPICH has had the privilege of recognizing those who have dedicated themselves to the safeguarding and transmission of intangible cultural heritage as a shared legacy of humanity. As the only international award dedicated exclusively to intangible cultural heritage, JIAPICH continues to provide visibility and recognition to practitioners and organizations whose contributions often remain under-acknowledged despite their critical cultural impact.
