Announcement of the 2021 Jeonju International Awards for Promoting Intangible Cultural Heritage We express our sincere gratitude to all applicants for the 2021 Jeonju International Awards for Promoting Intangible Cultural Heritage. We recognize and deeply appreciate what you and your organizations have achieved with respect to the safeguarding and revitalization of ICH. The selection process was very challenging as all applicants demonstrated good practices for the safeguarding ICH with courage and lofty spirit. Only three applicants (individuals and organizations) were selected as finalists from 44 applicants from 29 countries on six continents. Jeonju City announces the following three finalist candidates for public verification as the final process for the 2021 Jeonju International Awards for Promoting Intangible Cultural Heritage. The finalist candidates are as follows: - Mr. Dil Kumar Barahai, Naya of Barahi Da Guthi (Individual, Nepal, Asia-Pacific Region) - El Fèlze (Organization, Italy, Europe-North America) - Dr. Shirinbek Davlatmamadov, Founder of ‘Gulu Giyoh’ (Individual, Tajikistan, Asia-Pacific Region) The public verification process allows for verification of whether the finalists: 1. Cause any controversy internationally or domestically. 2. Are/were involved in any conflict or dispute internationally or domestically. The public verification process will take place from July 1 to July 31, 2021 on jiapich.org (2021 JIAPICH Homepage), ichngoforum.org (NGOs accredited by UNESCO Homepage), jeonju.go.kr (Jeonju City Homepage), and ichngo.net (UNESCO Accredited ICH NGO Homepage). On August 2, 2021, the final awards recipients will be publicly announced through the above mentioned websites. Jeonju City truly appreciates the applicants’ participation and sincere preparation of the written submissions for the awards. We remain dedicated to encouraging and supporting those who are devoted to the safeguarding ICH. We cordially ask for continued interests in our efforts. With such continued interest and participation, we hope that the Jeonju International Awards for Promoting Intangible Cultural Heritage will continue to motivate and serve as an inspiration for those dedicated to ICH.
