CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR FUNDING TO

ACCREDITED NGOS IN SITUATIONS OF CRISES

The ICH NGO Forum launched a fundraising campaign last year to assist accredited ICH NGOs (ANGOs)

impacted by emergency situations. A growing number of NGOs and communities are being struck by natural

disasters, climate change (floods, cyclones, mud slides, heat waves, forest fires, drought), armed conflict

(destruction of physical ICH spaces, mortality, forced migration, loss of ICH practices) and other crisis situations.

It appears to be increasingly certain these situations will increase over time.

Thanks to generous donors, the Forum’s Fundraising Committee is pleased to announce that it will provide two

donations of up to 500 euros each this year to ANGOs impacted by natural disasters and armed conflict to assist

them in their recovery. Accredited NGOs located in any country in the world experiencing situations of crisis are

eligible to apply. The range of situations defined as emergency are defined following from Article 50 of the

Operational Directives of the 2003 Convention on disaster response and applied to NGOs. An emergency shall be

considered to exist when an NGO finds itself unable to overcome on its own any circumstance due to calamity,

natural disaster, armed conflict, serious epidemic or any other natural or human event that has severe consequences

for the intangible cultural heritage as well as communities, groups and, if applicable, individuals who are the bearers

of that heritage.

The criteria for evaluation of applications are the following:

1) Applicants must be an NGO accredited to the ICH NGO Forum

2) The degree of need and urgency of the situation;

3) Demonstration that the NGO is experiencing substantial challenges in overcoming the impact of the crisis;

4) The need for the funds and how they will be used

Applications of 250 to 300 words, in English or French, responding to the above-mentioned criteria, should be sent

by 31 August 2023 to: Laurier.Turgeon@hst.ulaval.ca (Secretary of the Fundraising Committee). The donations

will be made in September and announced to the public at the next Intergovernmental Committee meeting, 18.COM,

in Kasane, Botswana between the 4

th of December 2023.

APPEL A CANDIDATURES POUR LE FINANCEMENT DES

ONG ACCREDITEES EN SITUATION DE CRISE

Le Forum des ONG du PCI a lancé l'année dernière une campagne de collecte de fonds pour aider les ONG

accréditées du PCI (ONG) touchées par des situations d'urgence. Un nombre croissant d'ONG et de communautés

sont impactées par les catastrophes naturelles, le changement climatique (inondations, cyclones, coulées de boue,

vagues de chaleur, incendies de forêt, sécheresse), les conflits armés (destruction des espaces physiques du PCI,

mortalité, migration forcée, perte des pratiques du PCI) et d'autres situations de crise. Il semble de plus en plus

certain que ces situations augmenteront avec le temps.

Grâce aux généreux donateurs, le Comité de collecte de fonds du Forum est heureux d'annoncer qu'il versera cette

année deux dons d'un montant maximum de 500 euros chacun aux ONG accréditées impactées par des

catastrophes naturelles et des conflits armés pour les aider à se rétablir. Les ONG accréditées situées dans

n'importe quel pays du monde en situation de crise sont admissibles. L'éventail des situations qualifiées d'urgence

est défini conformément à l'article 50 des Directives opérationnelles de la Convention de 2003 sur la réaction aux

catastrophes et appliqué aux ONG. Une urgence est considérée comme existant lorsqu'une ONG se trouve dans

l'incapacité de surmonter par elle-même une circonstance due à une calamité, une catastrophe naturelle, un conflit

armé, une épidémie grave ou tout autre événement naturel ou humain ayant de graves conséquences pour le

patrimoine culturel immatériel ainsi que pour les communautés, les groupes et, le cas échéant, les individus qui

sont les détenteurs de ce patrimoine.

Les critères d'évaluation des candidatures sont les suivants :

1) Les candidats doivent être une ONG accréditée auprès du Forum des ONG du PCI

2) Le degré de besoin et l'urgence de la situation ;

3) Démonstration que l'ONG éprouve des difficultés importantes à surmonter l'impact de la crise ;

4) Le besoin de fonds et comment ils seront utilisés

Les candidatures de 250 à 300 mots, en anglais ou en français, répondant aux critères susmentionnés, doivent être

envoyées avant le 31 août 2023 à : Laurier.Turgeon@hst.ulaval.ca (Secrétaire du Comité de Collecte de Fonds).

Les dons seront effectués en septembre et annoncés au public lors de la prochaine réunion du Comité

intergouvernemental, 18.COM, à Kasane, au Botswana, du 4 au 9 décembre 2023.
